Moving Beyond EFSS: Unveiling Adaptive Enterprise File Services
The Enterprise File Services market today is characterized as being too siloed and rigid to address the needs of both end users and IT departments. Users demand the same capabilities and convenience at work that they can get from popular consumer cloud applications, and if IT can’t deliver this type of functionality, users will often leverage consumer apps without IT’s consent. In fact, a recent Netskope survey uncovered that IT departments underestimate the number of non-sanctioned cloud apps (Shadow IT) in their environment by factor of 10. This Shadow IT problem has placed corporate data at great risk, only creating a larger IT vs. End User conflict. At Egnyte, we understand that both types of users have different and, sometimes, competing needs. This is why Egnyte, unlike other providers, focuses on delivering solutions that don’t require trade-offs.Today marks a big milestone for Egnyte and our customers, and I’m happy to introduce Egnyte Adaptive Enterprise File Services.Building on the foundation of our file services portfolio, these new services promise to provide both end users and IT departments with unparalleled levels of visibility, control and flexibility for their files stored and accessed on premises and in the cloud. The adaptive aspect of our Adaptive Enterprise File Services is enabled through powerful predictive analytics, business intelligence, and enhanced reporting & auditing capabilities.Today, we’re also announcing Content Intelligence, a new service tailored specifically for end users to help them understand exactly how their files are being accessed and shared inside and outside of their organizations. The true value of this service is in the added predictive capabilities that will enable Egnyte to recommend and proactively optimize content strategies and information workflows. For IT administrators, we’re also introducing Smart Reporting and Auditing to help IT understand how information flows throughout their infrastructure and users with robust reporting and analytics. This empowers IT to optimize infrastructure utilization, on and off premises, and streamline operations, which will help reduce costs. The full suite of services will include:End-User Services:
- Mobility: Enables users to access files they need on or offline from any preferred mobile device
- Unified User Experience: Ensures internal and external users can easily collaborate without needing a special client or requiring changes to their productivity environment and processes
- Content Intelligence (New): Helps users understand exactly how their files are being accessed and shared inside and outside of their organization and helps them adapt and optimize their content strategies and workflows
IT Department Services:
- Security: Provides end-to-end security with the ability for IT to define user, content, device, networking, and storage controls based on compliance and policy requirements
- Unified Administration & Management: Equips IT with complete visibility and centralized management over all enterprise files through a “single pane of glass”
- Smart Reporting & Auditing (Enhanced): Helps IT understand how information flows throughout their organization with robust reporting and analytics that empower them to optimize infrastructure utilization and streamline operations

Through Egnyte Adaptive Enterprise File Services, we’ve strengthened our ability to uniquely meet the needs of end users and IT to securely, easily and intelligently share files in a way that’s seamlessly integrated with the many cloud and storage environments, mobile devices, and productivity applications our customers are using.Through these advancements, we also gain new levels of intelligence to develop a File Management and Protection portfolio, enabling us to pursue new business opportunities in addition to EFSS and expand our product offerings for our customers.
