October Release Rollup: Egnyte Copilot, Active Links, Egnyte Sign, and More

We’re excited to share new updates and enhancements for October, including:  

  • Egnyte Copilot – Extraction for images and drawings  
  • Active links visual indicator 
  • Egnyte Sign – Certificate of completion

Intelligence 

Copilotextraction for images and drawings: Users can now ask questions about image files like PNG, JPG, DWG, and PDF, making it possible to request summaries or details based on visual elements. For example: “How many conference rooms are in the floor plan?” or “What materials were used?” Learn more.   

AI summarization (Android): Ask Summarization is now available for Android users. Users can easily summarize documents, extract key insights, provide feedback on accuracy, and copy summaries for further use. Learn more.  

Image markup recommendations (iOS): The Egnyte mobile app (iOS) will now alert that they can edit images using the Image Markups feature. A tooltip recommends using the ‘Ask’ feature for instant document summaries and questions for supported files. Learn more

Collaboration  

Active Links visual indicator: The Active Links visual indicator is now available in Egnyte's file listings, search results, and recent files. It helps users quickly identify active shared links and access details. Learn more.  

New link sharing experience (iOS): The revamped Link Sharing in the iOS app offers a streamlined interface, making it easier to select access types, adjust settings, and share links directly via email or by copying them for quick sharing. Learn more

Egnyte Signcertificate of completion: Users can now download a certificate of completion after signing a document in Egnyte Sign, enhancing accountability and record-keeping. Certificates are accessible in the document preview and under Workflows & Signatures. Learn more

CC users in Egnyte Sign requests: Users can now CC individuals in Egnyte Sign requests, including domain users and external email addresses, ensuring they receive the final signed copy and stay informed about the signing process. Learn more

Egnyte Sign enhancements (Android): The new enhancement on the Egnyte Sign feature on Android allows users to quickly fill the signature field by typing or uploading signatures from their photo gallery for added convenience. Learn more

Recipients email suggestions: When sharing links, users now receive automatic email suggestions based on past engagement. Frequently used addresses appear first, simplifying recipient selection and enhancing the sharing process efficiency. Learn more.  

Egnyte Actions on the desktop app: Egnyte Actions provide quick access to file management features from the context menu, allowing users to efficiently request signatures, edit PDFs, or review versions without leaving the app. Learn more.  

Manual file locking: In addition to the automatic locking upon file opening, users can now explicitly lock and unlock files using the right-click context menu. While locked, files can be previewed or downloaded, but editing, renaming, moving, or deleting is unavailable. Learn more

Connected foldersQuick Connect: With the new Quick Connect feature, users can sync their local folders—Documents, Downloads, and Desktop —to Egnyte with one click, ensuring easy backup and synchronization. Learn more

Governance  

Issue auto remediation enhancements: Users can now auto-remediate issues like Suspicious Login and External Sharing for Egnyte sources, enhancing security. This feature can be easily enabled by adjusting options in Settings or within Analysis rules for streamlined management. Learn more.  

Time-based one-time password (TOTP) authentication: TOTP is now available on WebUI and adds an extra layer of security to user accounts. It goes beyond just a username and password for enhanced protection and ensures a stronger defense against unauthorized access. Learn more.  

Industry Solutions 

BIM file preview enhancements (iOS): If someone tries to preview a BIM file that the iOS app does not support, the app now redirects users to the mobile browser, ensuring seamless access and better file viewing flexibility. Learn more

Other Enhancements and Releases 

Migration app – Improved consistency in migration jobs and commands: Customers can now configure Sync Deletes and Future Timestamp from the command pop-up and scheduler page, ensuring consistent settings across the interface for a better user experience. Learn more.
