Egnyte Awarded U.S. Patent for Egnyte Object Store
Industry-First Technology for Optimizing Storage with Third-Party Flexibility
Mountain View, Calif. – October 8, 2015
Egnyte, the market leader in Adaptive Enterprise File Services, today announced it was awarded U.S. patent 9135269 B2 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a system and method of implementing an object storage infrastructure for cloud-based services. The patented technology is the foundation of the company’s Egnyte Object Store (EOS), which decides where customer data is stored, whether in Egnyte’s data center or third-party data centers like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Storage; and utilizes storage cost-efficiently without compromising security or performance.
“This is an important patent for our company and our customers. EOS is the lifeblood of Egnyte and is relied upon for managing multi-petabytes of our customers’ data, with support for native storage, as well as delegated storage into multiple third-party public clouds,” said Rajesh Ram, Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer at Egnyte. “The technology has allowed storage at scale to become technically and economically efficient at Egnyte, which is a major a competitive differentiator for our platform.”
By leveraging the proprietary EOS technology, Egnyte is able provide a secure, open platform that will work seamlessly with third-party storage vendors. This approach offers enterprise customers more cost-effective options to adapt to their expanding storage needs and is beneficial to highly regulated industries that have specific requirements about where their data resides.
