Egnyte to Co-Host Data Privacy Webinar Series with Former FTC Chair Jon Leibowitz
Series to Discuss How U.S. Organizations Navigate Current Privacy Landscape
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 30, 2022
Egnyte, the most secure platform for content collaboration and governance, today announced it is co-hosting a data privacy webinar series in partnership with PrivacyOC, Truyo, and Fisher Phillips.
During the three September sessions, industry experts – including Jon Leibowitz, Former Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, and guest speaker Enza Iannopollo, Principal Analyst at Forrester – will discuss the current state of privacy and practical steps that organizations can take now to comply with potential federal legislation and rapidly-evolving state laws.
With the introduction of the U.S. federal American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADPPA) and the recent passage of a patchwork of state-level privacy laws – including in California, Virginia, Colorado, Utah, and Connecticut – companies face growing challenges when it comes to managing data privacy.
“As businesses manage increasing volumes of data, it can be difficult for them to understand today’s privacy landscape and how specific regulations apply to the consumers that they serve,” said Jeff Sizemore, Chief Governance Officer at Egnyte. “The recent emergence of new U.S. state-level privacy laws and positive momentum around federal legislation reinforces that respecting data privacy has never been more critical, which is why organizations need to be prepared.”
The first webinar session on Sept. 13, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. EDT will focus on what the ADPPA means for possible federal legislation, how it could change the way U.S. companies manage privacy, and its impact on existing state laws. The following webinars on Sept. 22 and Sept. 27 will discuss the privacy tools and processes available for organizations to stay on top of ever-changing compliance requirements.
Additional webinar speakers include Sizemore, Dan Clarke, President at Truyo, and Michael Hellbusch, Partner at Rutan & Tucker. Fisher Phillips partners David Walton and Usama Kahf will also be participating.
